Vitality and Sprout kicked their match off on Nuke, Sprout’s map pick. Despite losing the pistol round on the attacking side, the German team were able to pick up a 3-1 lead after winning the forcebuy and Josef “faveN” Baumann then winning a 1vs2 afterplant situation on the B site against Vitality’s forcebuy. Both teams then linked several rounds in a row with the French team taking a slight 8-7 lead at the half. Just as in the first half, Vitality won the pistol, but then lost three rounds in a row, going down 9-10. Tying it back up on the following round, Dan “apEX” Madesclaire and company were able to take control of the attacking side and went on to close the map out 16-12.
Florian “syrsoN” Rische got three quick USP-S headshots on a B retake to give Sprout the lead on Dust2, which the German squad were able to follow up winning a clean 4vs5 retake. Vitality then won a round of their own without losing a player, going on to take the following anti-eco and two more rounds for a 4-2 lead. Vitality started to run away 7-3, but an ace by Timo “Spiidi” Richter got Sprout back in it as both sides played a close half with the French team once again taking a one-round lead. The German side once again took an early lead in the second half, 12-8, but this time didn’t let up, going on to close it out to push the series to the decider, 16-12.
Sprout kicked Inferno off with a three-round streak on the CT side, but Vitality were quick to bring it to a draw. That would pretty much be it for the German team, however, as the Frenchmen rolled over Sprout’s defense round in and round out, giving up just one more before the half, making it 11-4. After winning the pistol round and with Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut leading the way, Vitality were quick to hit match point, and despite a small comeback attempt by Sprout, were able to close map and series out, 16-9.
The first map on the ticket in the match between Heroic and NiP was Vertigo, the Danish team’s map pick, and it was Marco “Snappi” Pfeiffer and company who jumped ahead out of the gate, winning 11 rounds in a row before NiP could even get a single tally on the scoreboard. The Swedes were able to get the last four of the half, but it didn’t take Heroic long to seal the deal in the second half taking the pistol and the follow-up. Up 13-4 they lost three, but closed it out 16-7 to take the 1-0 lead going into Nuke.
Heroic once again took early control on Nuke, winning the CT-side pistol round and the two following rounds for a 3-0 lead. Guns didn’t help NiP, who collapsed on the B site in the fourth round to a solid defense. Just like on Vertigo, Heroic were the only team on the server as they locked down ten rounds before giving one up. The Danes then closed the half out 13-2. NiP were able to take the first few rounds of the second half, and then made a run to try and make a comeback, but were eventually stopped by the Danes, who closed out the map and series, 16-12.
