The $60,000 tournament featured just four teams in Gambit Youngsters, ex-Epsilon, ViCi and Riot Squad, with the latter two falling in third and fourth place, respectively, in the double-elimination best-of-one bracket.
The grand final between Gambit Youngsters and ex-Epsilon was played on stage at the Brooklyn Center during the preshow for the upcoming ESL One New York grand final between Evil Geniuses and Astralis, which is set to kick off at 19:00.
The veto process saw the match head in the direction of Mirage, where Gambit Youngsters secured an early 2-0 lead on the T side, but ex-Epsilon answered back swiftly off the back of a Kia “Surreal” Man triple-kill to kick off a string of rounds. Gambit Youngsters found some form towards the end of the half to narrow the score difference to just a single round at the halfway mark.
Gambit Youngsters wasted no time levelling the score after ex-Epsilon had locked down the opening rounds of the second half, with the Russian side pulling ahead at 13-12 as Dmitry “sh1ro” Sokolov shined on the AWP. The domination from the Russian youngster continued as Gambit Youngsters closed out the map 16-13 to take home the MSI MGA 2019 trophy.
