The first series started on Overpass, Windigo‘s map pick, with Natus Vincere kicking things off with a strong start, 5-0 as CT. The European mixture then replied with two of their own, but the CIS side recovered swiftly and finished the half while dropping just one more round, 12-3 up. Claiming the pistol after the switch gave Windigo a chance to bring the score back to 13-7, but with Egor “flamie” Vasilyev in strong form, Natus Vincere tied three together and sealed the map, 16-7.
The action moved to Inferno next, where Windigo looked much better from the start, grabbing a 6-1 lead following a pistol round win. Buğra “Calyx” Arkın was standing out for his side early on, but the tides shifted in the second part of the half and Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhailov‘s troops recovered to finish with a minimal lead going onto the defense (8-7). Natus Vincere kept the pressure on by winning the force-buy as CT and went on to dominate on the defense, quickly closing out the series with a 16-10 score on Inferno.
G2 and HellRaisers faced off on Vertigo first, HellRaisers‘ map pick. Kirill “ANGE1” Karasiow‘s team showed good form early, bagging a 7-2 lead as CT, which they extended to 9-3. In the final rounds of the half, G2 finally woke up, bringing the score back to 9-6. HellRaisers then claimed their second pistol round of the map, but dropped their economic advantage against the force buy of the French-Serbian team, allowing them to build some momentum back. Audric “JaCkz” Jug was a key player in G2‘s eight-round streak which saw them take a 14-10 lead. HellRaisers mustered three rounds at the end, but it wasn’t enough as G2 closed out the map, 16-13.
On Dust2, HellRaisers again looked strong off the bat, bagging a 6-1 lead before dropping a 4v2 advantage in an anti-eco allowed G2 to get back into the game. On the offense, G2 focused on the A bombsite and continuously won after-plants and man-disadvantage situations, eventually concluding the half with a 9-6 advantage following a successful B explosion.
A continuation of momentum in the second half was ensued by G2 as they managed a 4v4 B bombsite retake and shrugged off HellRaisers‘ force buy attempt. The score was 13-6 when the Ukranian team started looking threatening, chaining three rounds together, however, that deficit was too big for them to overcome and G2 finished the map, 16-10, after locking down a B split.
