A stunning 1vs4 ace clutch from Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte saw Evil Geniuses open up their map pick of Inferno in style. Aaron “AZR” Ward turned the situation around for Renegades with a CZ-75 triple kill as they were able to reply, taking an additional two rounds for a 3-1 lead. Back on rifles, Evil Geniuses quickly found the key to their offense as they continued to decimate Renegades‘ CT setups for the remainder of the half, conceding only a single round for an 11-4 scoreline as they swapped sides.
Four frags from Tarik “tarik” Celik gave Evil Geniuses the second pistol round of the map, and, although Renegades were able to win another force-buy for a fifth round, three P250 kills from Ethan “Ethan” Arnold kept Evil Geniuses in control as they quickly closed things out on Inferno 16-5.
Brehze found another three frags on the CT pistol of Mirage to once again grant his side an early lead. From there, six of the first seven rounds went the way of Peter “stanislaw” Jarguz and company, with Renegades‘ sole round coming off the back of a triple kill from Justin “jks” Savage. Tsvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov‘s efforts on the AWP, including two quad kill rounds, and additional multi-frags from stanislaw and Ethan allowed Evil Geniuses to hold on to their lead, staying ahead 10-5 over Renegades at the half.
stanislaw and tarik claimed all the kills for their team as Evil Geniuses secured their fourth pistol round win of the series, but yet again a force-buy from Renegades gave the Australians the opportunity to answer back. Evil Geniuses were only able to notch one round out of the next seven as Sean “Gratisfaction” Kaiwai and AZR helped Renegades close the deficit and put themselves within one round of their opposition.
An eco victory was what put Evil Geniuses back on the board, keeping the team in the lead as another two rounds had them claim match point at 15-11. With mostly pistols in their hands, Renegades took one more round for themselves, but Evil Geniuses were not to be denied as a swift reply in the ensuing round put an end to the map 16-12.
